Feline Surgery Requirements

Surgery Requirements for All Cats
1. All healthy non-diabetic cats must be fasted for 12 hours prior to admission for surgery.
2. All cats are required to have had a negative stool sample within the past year. If it has been over a year a fecal floatation test will be performed at a cost of $18 on the day of the surgery
3. All cats are required to be current on distemper vaccinations. If they are not current they will be given a distemper vaccination costing $19 on the day of the surgery.
4. All cats are required to be current on rabies vaccination if they are not current they will be given a 1 year rabies costing $15 or a 3 year rabies costing $18 on the day of the surgery.
5. I.V. Fluids are required for all dental procedures. I.V. fluids help to prevent dehydration and maintain blood pressure during surgical procedures. The cost is $36.
Surgery Requirements for All Cat Declaw Surgeries
1. All Cat Declaws are required to use a laser in order to decrease bleeding and make the pet more comfortable following surgery. The fee for the laser is $30 for either a front or rear declaw and $45 for a front and rear declaw procedure.
2. All Cat Declaws are required to receive a pain injection to keep it more comfortable on the day of the surgery at a cost of $18
Surgery Requirements for All Cats 5 to 7 years of Age
1. All cats 5 to 7 years of age are required to have a pre-surgical blood screen with a CBC costing $46 to check for organ problems and infections on the day of the surgery.
Surgery Requirements for Cats 8 years of age and older
1. All cats 8 years of age and older are required to have a pre-surgical blood screen with a CBC costing $46 to check for organ problems and infections on the day of the surgery.
2. All Cats 5 to 8 years of age are required to have I.V fluids to prevent dehydration and maintain blood pressure during surgical procedures. The cost is $36.
